Uganda's Tooro Kingdom names new monarch
Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma was named King of Tooro Kingdom by the Babiito royal clan following King Oyo's death, amid a succession dispute.
Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma has been selected as the new King of Uganda's Tooro Kingdom following the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
The decision was announced by leaders of the Babiito royal clan at Karuziika Palace after consultations over succession to the throne.
The appointment comes amid a wider dispute over the late king's succession and claims that he may have left a biological heir.
