Ugandan authorities have detained two retired generals who previously headed the country's military intelligence service as an investigation into alleged false intelligence and treachery expands.

Retired Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho and Brig. Gen. Charles Bakahumura were taken into custody less than three weeks after leaving active military service.

Both men previously led the military intelligence structure now known as Defence Intelligence and Security, while investigators are reportedly seeking additional suspects.
