Somalia launches early-action initiative for disasters

Somalia's Disaster Management Agency and the Somali Red Crescent have launched the AHEAD initiative to reduce displacement caused by floods and other natural disasters.

The programme will focus on early warning, risk monitoring and preventive action before emergencies escalate.

Federal institutions, humanitarian partners and international organisations are expected to support the initiative as Somalia strengthens its disaster-preparedness system.
