Anthropic links Sudan influence network to UAE officials

Anthropic says it identified a coordinated influence operation that used Claude to shape political and human-rights narratives related to Sudan.

The network allegedly created fabricated personas, political messaging and materials designed to appear independently produced, while also generating coordinated social-media content.

According to Anthropic’s assessment, the operation also sought to influence UN accountability processes concerning Sudan. The company said it linked the network with high confidence to UAE government officials.

Anthropic said accounts connected to malicious influence activity were removed as part of broader efforts to detect and disrupt the misuse of its AI systems.
