Abiy Ahmed set for Putin talks at BRICS summit

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is expected to attend the BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13 and hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting comes as Addis Ababa continues efforts to deepen political and economic engagement with Moscow.

Abiy’s limited public visibility in recent weeks has fueled criticism among opponents, while the BRICS summit offers his government an opportunity to reassert Ethiopia’s diplomatic presence on the international stage.
